Obituary

To know her, was to love her. Patricia was the bedrock of our family; best friends with her three sisters, Jean Glaser (Jeff), Marie MacVeigh (Richard) and Barbara Reilly (Larry). She was adored by her extended family including nieces and nephews: Kelly, Brian, Megan (Josh), Jim (Kelly), Jill (Kevin), Dennis, Kyle and Shannon and many grand-nieces & nephews. She spent the last 15 years in a loving relationship with Jack McQuade (predeceased), who doted on her and for whom she deeply loved and cared for. She was predeceased by her parents, James J. and Edith M. O'Brien.

Patricia lived a magnificent life filled with fun and laughter and surrounded by family and friends. Her door was always open, she loved to host and she welcomed everyone into her home with warmth. She had the gift of gab and loved a quick chat (or a very long one!). Her phone was always ringing. Nothing was more illustrative of her fun and social nature than the wide circle of beach chairs occupied by friends and family at Ponquogue Beach.

Patricia grew up in St. Nicholas of Tolentine parish in the Bronx with fond memories of her childhood including summers spent in Rockaway with her mother, sisters and grandparents. She had no shortage of friends, some friendships dating back to her childhood. When it came to her family, her love was unwavering. She never missed a celebration, birthday or milestone. She was the backbone of our family and the biggest cheerleader of those she held dear.

She was a successful professional and spent her career in executive positions at prestigious law firms, navigating it fiercely, gracefully and,  importantly, fashionably (with no shortage of great looking suits).

She possessed many other important skills like shopping (nothing pleased her more than a good bargain), grilling a perfect medium-rare steak, making milkshakes, trimming hair, grabbing the perfect parking spot and selecting the perfect gift.

We will miss her dearly but our sorrow will be filled with all of the special memories of her. We know she will be in Heaven, lovingly watching over her friends and family like she did while she was on Earth.
