John S. Garretto, on November 2, 2024. Formerly of Rockville Centre, John lived a remarkable life filled with love, dedication, and service, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him.
John was the beloved husband of the late Rose, with whom he shared many wonderful years and treasured memories. Together, they raised a beautiful family, including his children: Roseann Celauro (John), the late Louise, Joan Forero, and John D. Garretto (Diane). John was also the proud grandfather of Francis, Daniel, Renee, Evan, and Liana, as well as a loving great-grandfather to six great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to his life.
Professionally, John was a dedicated civil engineer who committed his career to the City of New York. He retired as the Director of the Bureau of Construction, leaving a legacy of hard work, integrity, and a passion for building and infrastructure that continues to benefit the city to this day.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 4 to 8 PM at the Thomas A. Glynn & Son Funeral Home 20 Lincoln Ave Rockville Centre, NY 11570. Funeral Mass Saturday 9 AM at St. Agnes Cathedral with interment to follow at Holy Rood Cemetery.
